How to monitor DIS to ensure it is working

A customer recently asked how they can monitor DIS to ensure it is functioning.

I believe these are the best methods:

Monitor the DIS log file
DIS logs to a log file, this can be monitored with log monitoring & alert software.

Monitor the DIS process/service
Windows Services can be monitored with monitoring & alert software.

Monitoring DIS activity via Fliplet
In future Fliplet will have a method to monitor if DIS has synced and report if it hasn’t synced within a period of time. This feature is due in Q3 2021. Fliplet won’t be able to determine what went wrong so the initial methods suggested are more detailed than Fliplet reporting if DIS hasn’t synced.

Are there any other methods customers can use to monitor the health and status of DIS?
